Originally written in or around '99 and tracked as part of a Slackharmonic booking demo that was lovingly dropped off at venues around the Philly-area, Philly AM Fight Song is a call to "meh" while working in a radio station no one could hear. This captures the heart of the original at much higher resolution, yet I feel I manage to maintain the lo-fi aesthetic.
This tune was from my Mini Mammoth days--the oxymorons of rock! Written in or around 2010, this tune is a call to arms; to steel yourself with icy resolve in the face of steep odds (plus I really dig the groove.) Thanks to Katie Fox for providing the drums for this track. Please give Gut Check a listen.
This track was a Slackharmonic staple from 1999 on. Originally intended as the lead single for an unreleased album, Graveyard of the Atlantic, this reimagining attempts to add some lead and color Hope you all like it! Please give Bullet Train Through Richmond a listen.
TBD - never came up with a name, so TBD just stuck. An unrecorded track from my Mini Mammoth years circa 2009-2011. You can buy this and other tracks on my Bandcamp page if you like what you hear. Drums courtesy of Katie Fox. Please give TBD a listen.
Sisyphus Engine (Mini Mammoth) - how much in life is rolling rocks uphill, just to watch them fall back down? A celebration of a determination to get back up day after day after falling down. Applies to a lot of situations - relationships, jobs, moods, etc. Give Sisyphus Engine a "spin"
An immature heartbreak song. I include it for it's innocence and sincerity. This reimagining of the original Table 64 song tries to stay fairly close to home. The cover art - I decided to have fun. Do guitars crush on other guitars? I think they do...for that special guitar or guitarist in your life...I give you the Dream (for Valentine's Day)
This song means so much to me personally, but this isn't really my story to tell. These are words from my good friend, Dave:
"My Cleo has passed. After 14 months of battling….she at peace. I am beside myself with grief….but I have a family….two families….one family… I will be there to support. Our three year old son especially and his sisters.
If you knew Cleo, you can understand the pain as she was legendary in her own right. I could write our story as a movie, and I just may because it deserves to be told.
My love held on, I believe. She didn’t want to go on Valentine’s Day and leave me with that but….
This song which is my band Flannel - A Grungy '90s Revival alongside some other amazing players and production talents. You know who you are
But the most important players on here are her parents, my parents, all 3 kids, our nephews and her brother writing a new intro to this song.
Please listen and think of her.
She’s the tear that hangs inside my soul forever…."
Grinder is a song about the dissolution of the band Table 64, written in or around '99-'00, but didn't get tracked until the unreleased Slackharmonic album "Under the BFB". I do my best to stay true to that version, though the lead work may differ a bit.
Originally recorded by Mini Mammoth with a ring-out that was longer than the entire song, drunken text message attempts to embody the feeling of a late night inebriated missive. Take a minute and give Drunken Text Message a chance.
Drunken text message a smorgasbord of regret.
Drunken text message--is this a promise or idle threat?
What am I doing here--texting at half past four?
Drunken text message--thank you!
and good night.
Vampires and Reptiles is an unreleased tune from my Mini Mammoth days (09-11ish). I really enjoy this one. Beware emotional vampires and their various reptilian, cold-blooded cohorts!
Exhale was originally recorded and released on cassette demo over the summer of '96 ("To Slay the Giant") by Table 64. I reimagined with acoustic guitars, additional lead (exploring reverse reverb is fun!).
Cobblestones is a limited edition track and will be replaced with a file containing drums in the near future. Need to make sure I stick to dropping a track per week. Cobblestones recreates the melancholy of feeling alone in a crowd of people.
Cataclysmic was a conversation I had with someone in a bar a long time ago. Her biological clock was hammering at 25 years old. I didn't feel it was all that dire at 25, but have a very different feeling on the matter, nearly 25 years later.
1-2-3 is an old Mini Mammoth tune from the first EP "Too Much Time Wasted". Talking about enjoying the ride. I can't always take my own advice...but there are days, lol.
One of the earliest songs I wrote. This was originally recorded as parrt of a demo "The Stegasaurus Project" in August of 1995, and later went on to be released as part of Table 64's debut "To Slay the Giant". Lost this session in a Pro Tools upgrade/Windows 11 issue. Will eventually re-track this one so drums and bass might be added. The Poet holds a dear place in my heart, looking back at the 2-3 year period where I first started playing guitar.
Four O'Clock is a tune from the Slackharmonic catalog, though we played in both Mini Mammoth and Magnificent Birds of Prey at some point. While this version contains no drums (yet), please be advised to check out the free track of Four O'Clock live @ Emerald City.
Shopping Mall takes an old idea from the late 90's and transforms it into an MBOP tune, allowing us to show off some of our softer side and more range to our soundscapes, adding foley, et. al.
Here is a tune about working on the Death Star/working as a Stormtrooper and the daily grind that goes with it.
The chorus of this song developed en route to a Creepoid show at Underground Arts. Good memories!
My guitar work is on the right side of the audio for Magnificent Birds of Prey and Flannel. I'm the only guitar + overdubs (keys, bass, vocals, hand claps/additional percussion, etc.) for Mini Mammoth, The Slackharmonic and Table 64. You can see me on the right side of the stage (facing) in the videos (where applicable).
